It all started in 1979… before the toll roads and the Irvine Spectrum were in Orange County. Founding partner, David George saw a real need for fine quality food combined with excellent service. So, like all good Orange County entrepreneurs, he started up a new catering adventure. Quickly the company became overwhelmed with orders and customers. David was so overwhelmed the company needed a professional and full time kitchen just to meet the growing demand for his food and services. His business was growing just as quickly as Orange County was.
Finally settling at the current location in Orange, The Tulsa Rib Company, was opened in January, 1981. Moving away from its initial fine-dining continental catering, David and his partners developed their award winning delicious rib restaurant. It was then that the now famous “gourmet barbecue” menu was born.
Within the first year, famed restaurant critics Elmer Dills, Herb Baus and Don Smith visited the new restaurant to discover The Tulsa Rib Company’s unique and delicious barbecue. After getting flavorful, err… favorable reviews, The Tulsa Rib Company instantly became busy with both in-restaurant and to-go customers.
Soon, the gourmet barbecue was in demand all over Southern California at family affairs, small business functions, large company picnics, and everything in between. The Tulsa Rib Company finally became Orange County’s gourmet barbecue.
Today, The Tulsa Rib Company is known as much for its incredible catering as its restaurant’s famous menu. Catering clients include Ford Motor Credit, car dealerships thorough out the “southland,” Pacific Bell, Disney, Fluor Daniel, Nordstrom, State Street, UPS to name just a few. One of their largest one-day events they cater is at the National Hot Rod Associations races in Pomona, California.
The current owner, Steve Parker, has been a partner/owner of the Tulsa Rib Company since its inception way back in 1979. With Steve’s background in restaurant management, kitchen and recipe knowledge, vast catering experiences and overall business management expertise, the company is rapidly expanding to meet the growing demand for their delicious food. In fact, people nationwide can purchase The Tulsa Rib Company's official sweatshirts, hats, and blankets and SOON their famous sauce. These are fast becoming collectors' items, so don't miss out.
